Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR) Annual Conference

The Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR) held their annual conference April 7-9 at the New York Academy of Medicine in New York City. We were lucky to be hosted by the Columbia Center for Injury Science and Prevention. Over 500 participants from around the country participated in this premier conference to share and learn about life-saving research to prevent injuries and violence.
Faculty and students from the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy were enthusiastic to participate in multiple oral and poster presentations. Highlights included a workshop led by Renee M. Johnson, Emily Kumpf and Wendy C. Shields on incorporating injury prevention content into public health curricula and a panel moderated by Shannon Frattaroli on foundation funding for injury and violence research.
A special congratulations to our students and fellows who presented their work during the conference. They include: Kalice Allen, Jack Christian, Katrina Kennedy, Sharmini Rathakrishnan, Evin Rothschild and Nae Won.
We look forward to SAVIR’s 2026 conference, which will be held April 13-15, 2026 in Providence, Rhode Island!
